about katie
Katie first discovered yoga in her early twenties as a supplement to her marathon-training program. She began consistently practicing when she was forced to take time off from running after developing two pelvic stress fractures due to physical imbalances she stubbornly ignored. She began practicing Vinyasa yoga daily and learned its’ benefits beyond a physical workout, as it continues to bring both physical and mental stability to her life.
In the fall of 2012, Katie earned her Registered Yoga Teacher Vinyasa certification through Dana Hot Yoga’s 200-Hour teacher training program. In the spring of 2013, she went on to earn her Prenatal Yoga certification through Dhyana Yoga. Katie enjoys building fun, challenging flows with a focus on anatomy, physiological benefits, and the mind-body connection. Katie credits yoga with helping her recover from and prevent a multitude of sports injuries, endure a high-risk twin pregnancy, and keep up with her rambunctious twin boys with a smile. She hopes to help others develop awareness within their own bodies and become the authors of their own capabilities.
Katie left her construction consulting job to focus on raising her sons and pursue her dream of teaching yoga to others. When she is not practicing yoga or training for a distance event around Bay Farm Island, you can find her spending time with her husband and trying to keep up with her 3 year old boys!
